Playing the Pittsboro Roadhouse

From Pittsboro Roadhouse Gigmaster John Wilson

If you are interested in performing at The Pittsboro Roadhouse, please email me at music@pittsbororoadhouse.com. In your email please include the following:

  1. Links to audio and/or video clips, website, social media pages and other digital showcases are required.

Reverbnation is our primary music calendar and promotional band link, which is also linked to our website and Facebook page. If you have a Reverbnation page, please include the link. Having a Reverbnation page is not a deciding factor for your booking but is very helpful for our expedited review and promotion of your band.

If no links are provided, you will not receive a response.

  1. Provide names of other venues where you perform in the areas surrounding Pittsboro. Include average attendance / draw (please be honest). If you do not draw well at other places, that doesn’t necessarily mean you may not draw at the Pittsboro Roadhouse. We are open to giving new acts a chance. If you do draw well at other places, we need to know what to expect when planning for your show.
  2. Read the auto-response email you’ll receive when you send your first message. It contains links to our booking requirements, compensation, and expectations. (The same information is repeated below in case you landed first on this web page.)Due to the increasing volume of inquiries, I can only respond to those inquiries which appear to be a good fit for the Pittsboro Roadhouse. We’re getting about 100 – 150 inquiries a month. It really helps you and us if you take time to learn about the Pittsboro Roadhouse to see if we’re a good fit for each other.

Thank you,

John Wilson

Touring Musicians

If you’re from out of the region and not known in North Carolina, Tuesday or Thursday night for dinner or Sunday brunch would be the times to aim for if you are a solo, duo or trio acoustic act. We do not provide PA in our front dining room.

If you are known and can draw a crowd, then Friday or Saturday night is an option for full bands, but we’re booking 3 months in advance now with a few exceptions. We have a House PA on the Roadhouse Stage in the back room. See our FAQ section for more info.

Regular Gigs

After you play for us and we see your music is a good fit for our restaurant, we book a lot of our bands every 6 to 8 weeks, some going out as far as 6 months ahead of time.

Banners On Stage

Many bands hang a banner over the front of the stage. No banners can be placed on the wall or curtain behind the stage. Banners are also allowed to be displayed outside the Pittsboro Roadhouse the day before a show as long as it is in keeping with town ordinances.

Selling merchandise

Performers often bring their CDs and band-related goods for sale. The Pittsboro Roadhouse is not responsible for and handling any purchases for bands.

Please read more about working with the Pittsboro Roadhouse.

What do you look for in booking a band?

Professionalism – This applies to timeliness, performance, language, dress and stage presence.
In other words, if your band is on time for load in, you are tight and together musically, you don’t use vulgar or negative language, you’re well dressed and you interact with your crowd in a positive manner then you are what we’re looking for.

Song Selection – The Pittsboro Roadhouse supports artists who write and perform original music however, not everybody in the crowd appreciates a band that performs only original music.  Unless your band can fill the place up on the popularity of your original music, we prefer you mix in your originals with some great covers that most folks will recognize and enjoy.

The Pittsboro Roadhouse also supports bands that only do covers. Please make sure the majority of your set lists are well known covers. Lesser known songs can be great but, a set full of them is about as good as a set of all original music.

The goal here is to draw customers into the Pittsboro Roadhouse and keep them there until closing time. The music being played can very well determine if they stay or leave. Playing songs that people are familiar with and enjoy is a must if you want to play on the Roadhouse Stage.

What equipment do you have?

We have a 16-channel Allen & Heath board powered by two Crown Amplifiers. Two Peavey stage monitors. Two speaker stacks (mains & subs) hand built by Lynn Hoffman of Hoffman Guitars & Sound.  Due to theft, we no longer provide microphones, XLR cables or instrument cables. Please bring your own.
